Gala and Golf: The Laney Museum Strives to Raise Funds for a New Elevator
The Lucy Craft Laney Museum of Black History is utilizing two of its popular annual events to help raise funds to repair the elevator in the historic Laney Museum building.
The Museum’s Annual Heritage Gala on June 5th celebrates the 30th Anniversary of the Lucy Craft Laney Museum of Black History. The event is free this year, focusing as a fundraising event, and will be a virtual extravaganza that includes special guest performers, such as television star and comedian James Stephen III, music by Lady and The Gents, as well as a wonderful celebration of the history and community impact of the Museum. A special raffle for a cash prize will be held. The online event will air at 7pm, June 5th on the Laney Museum’s Facebook and YouTube Channels.
On Saturday, May 15, 2021 the Lucy Craft Laney Museum will host its fifth annual golf tournament at the Augusta Municipal Golf Course. This year the tournament honors the 1969 Laney High School Golf Team, the first Black Golf Team at Laney High School. Golfers can register online at CLICK TO REGISTER. Early online registration includes one year subscription to Golf Digest Magazine and One Museum Tour Admission. Details at lucycraftlaneymuseum.com/golf-tournament/
The proceeds from the Gala and the Golf Tournament will go directly towards repairing the Museum’s elevator, which will allow disabled children to access the Children’s Academy in the basement, and disabled visitors to see exhibits on all the floors. Supporters can donate directly to www.gagives.org/event/Tmvk5f. Every little bit helps tremendously!
