06 Mar “The Women of a New Tribe” Exhibition
The Lucy Craft Laney Museum of Black History in partnership with the Augusta Chapter of the Links, Inc. presented a dynamic photography exhibition, “The Women of a New Tribe,” by photographer Jerry Taliaferro from Charlotte, North Carolina. The exhibition was open to the public March 6 -31st. Most of the women chosen to take part in this project were selected for the contributions they made to their communities. The models are teachers, businesswomen, volunteers, activists, homemakers, spouses, mothers, and grandmothers. The constant input of new images has transformed the project from a simple collection of images, to a living mosaic of the modern Black American Woman.
