Annual Golf Tournament

In June, the Lucy Craft Laney Museum of Black History and Conference Center held its 9th Annual Golf Tournament at the Belle Meade Country Club in Thompson, GA. The tournament paid tribute to Lee Elder, the first black golfer invited to play in the Masters and his Augusta National Black Caddies:  Henry Brown, Jessie Ross and Henry “Knox” McClendan. The tournament was a sold-out event. It marked the first time in nine-years that the tournament was not held at the Augusta Municipal Court, which is undergoing a major renovation. The golfers and museum appreciate the outstanding service provided by the Belle Meade Country Club.
