Merry Stewart
“Standing On Our Ancestors’ Shoulders: Transformations of African American Life in Rural Georgia, 1930s – 1970s” provides firsthand accounts of historical transformations that occurred in African American home, church, and school communities in Georgia – especially Columbia and Richmond Counties between the 1930s and the 1970s. The 25 storytellers’ unique perspectives and personal experiences capture emotions often absent in other written records.

Merry Stewart’s first book demonstrates her passion for Black History, especially from lived  experiences. Dr. Stewart’s research and writing skills were enhanced by her roles as a professor and publisher of healthcare articles. Dr. Stewart resides with her husband in Columbia County – the primary setting from which the stories in her book are shared.

Jerry Smith
“Happiness is Easy; Being Unhappy is What’s Hard!” dives deep into the psychological underpinnings of our emotional states, challenging the reader to rethink their perspectives on happiness. It argues that happiness is not found in external achievements or the ceaseless pursuit of pleasure but within ourselves through simplification and understanding.

Jerry is an author, speaker, and expert in positive psychology with over 40 years of experience in counseling, teaching and coaching individuals on achieving mental well-being and emotional balance. Jerry holds an associate degree from San Diego City College; and a master’s degree from National University, San Diego, Ca. .  Jerry is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Georgia and South Carolina and he has given numerous lectures and workshops on psychology and wellness.
