The calendar honorees will be on site to meet and greet the community and sign calendars.
Calendars are $20.00 and can be purchased by visiting the museum at 1116 Phillips Street or call the museum at 706-724-3576. Calendars will be available for purchase at the signing.
The first of its kind for the museum and Augusta, the calendar is a historical piece, a keepsake item that will become a collector’s item over time as the museum produces a new calendar each year featuring a new set of Augusta’s black history makers.
The calendar profiles black Augustans whose life’s work defines them as a Trailblazer, Gamechanger, Luminary and/or Pacesetter. Each month, it also highlights important moments in black history.
Augusta Achievers features Dr. Mallory Millender, Dr. Mac Bowman, Dr. Ebony Brown, Russell Joel Brown, Velvet Perry, Hawthorne Welcher, Jr., the late Carrie Mays and the late Willie Mays III, Marion Barnes, Tyrone Butler, Judith Simon-Butler and Earnestine Robinson, Denzell Howard, the late B.L. Dent, the late R.A. “Papa” Dent, and Dr. Cheryl Evans Jones.
Proceeds from the calendar support the Laney Museum’s ongoing mission to preserve Augusta’s Black History, to educate the community and provide innovative and impactful programming.
