A Celebration of African American Art and Culture in the River Region
During the holiday season the Lucy Craft Laney Museum of Black History and Conference Center will feature a new exhibit entitled “A celebration of African American art and culture in the River Region”. This new exhibition, which will be on display until January 2nd, will highlight extraordinary artists in the River Region. These artists include Theron Cartwright, who just completed the new mural Arts and Entertainment in the Golden Blocks Era, which sits at the corner of Laney-Walker and 12th; and Salonika Rhyne, whose mural, Women of Empowerment, sits at the corner of Laney-Walker and 9th Street.
Joining Theron and Salonika are the works of Dr. Marlene O’Bryant-Seabrook, whose quilts are known by many in South Carolina, Georgia, and beyond.
The Museums holiday hours are: Christmas Eve (12/24/24) – Open half day Christmas Day and Day After (12/25-26/2024) – Closed New Year’s Eve (12/31/2024) – Open half day New Year Day and Day After – (01/01/2025 – 01/02/2025) – Closed
